Welcome to our Summer School Program, where educational opportunities thrive during the sun-filled months! As always, summer school is open to all incoming 5K-8th grade resident students. We are excited once again to extend eligibility to non-residents, ensuring that the doors of learning remain open for everyone in and around our community. Whether you are looking to enhance your academic skills or explore new subjects, our Summer School is designed to accommodate and enrich the diverse needs of the student body. Instructions on How to Register for Summer School

Summer 2026 Learning Dates:

Students who will be entering grades 5K-8th grade in the fall of 2026:

Summer learning classes meet Mondays through Thursdays, June 15th to July 30th, 2026
No school on Fridays.
No school the week of June 29th

Summer Learning Vision: Our vision is to create a vibrant and engaging learning environment where every student discovers the joy of learning beyond the traditional school year. We aim to foster creativity, curiosity, and collaboration, providing a unique space for students to explore, grow, and build lasting memories.

Registering for Summer Learning:

All registration will take place online through Skyward Family Access. Courses will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Resident Enrollment begins March 9th, 2026
  - If your resident child is not currently enrolled in WGSD, please contact Lisa Mutter, Administrative Assistant, at 262-514-8250 or email her at mutter@waterford.k12.wi.us. She will provide you with information on how to enroll your child in summer school through New Student Online Enrollment. Once enrollment is approved, you will receive a confirmation email which includes instructions on how to register for courses.
  - Current open-enrolled students are eligible to register at the same time as residents.
- Non-Resident Enrollment begins March 20th, 2026
  - Non-residents wishing to enroll their child in summer school should contact Lisa Mutter, Administrative Assistant, at 262-514-8250 or email her at mutter@waterford.k12.wi.us. She will provide you with information on how to enroll your child through New Student Online Enrollment. Once enrollment is approved, you will receive a confirmation email which will include instructions on how to register for courses.

Important to Know:

Summer School is held at the Fox River Middle School, 921 W. Main Street.
Classes are offered for incoming grades 5K-8th grade students. Current 8th-grade students looking for summer course opportunities should review the Summer School information at the Waterford Union High School website.
Register your child for the grade your child will be entering in the fall of 2026.
Students will not be able to repeat the same class across sessions (ex: Gym Games).
Students are welcome to bring a snack and bottle of water to school.
Technology will be available to students at Summer School in certain classes. Chromebooks are to remain at the school and will not be sent home with students.
Fees will need to be paid by June 14th and there are no refunds after June 16th.

Fees

Summer school is free for all Waterford Graded School District residents and students enrolled in Waterford Graded Schools. Some courses require a materials fee, which is noted in the course description. Non-resident tuition cost is $80 per two-week class, or $40 per one-week class plus any material fees.

Any tuition and material fees must be paid by June 12th, 2026. Fees can be paid through the Skyward portal or at the District Office located at 819 W. Main Street. Unpaid fees may result in your student losing their spot in class.

If you have registered your child(ren) and they will not be attending summer school, contact Heidi Frost at frost@waterford.k12.wi.us. Refunds will only be given if the student is withdrawn prior to the first day of summer school. No refunds will be given after June 15th, 2026.

Transportation

Waterford Graded School District will provide a free shuttle bus from five locations to Fox River and back at the conclusion of the summer school day. Students who are attending Summer Playground who want to attend summer school will be escorted (walked) to FR.

Please be aware that Trailside and Woodfield schools are not regularly staffed in the summer and therefore, supervision is the responsibility of the parent and not provided by the District. Supervision will be provided for students getting on and off the bus at Fox River.
The shuttle bus is available to and from Fox River Middle School at the following pick-up/drop-off locations: Trailside Early Primary School, Homestead Daycare, Little Bear, All About Kids, Woodfield Primary School. Pick-up and drop-off times TBD.

Week 1

Week 1

We have officially wrapped up the first week of Session 1, and what a fantastic start to the summer! Our students have jumped right into learning, creating, exploring, and building new friendships.

Character Word of the Week: Belonging

This week's character word was Belonging. Throughout the week, students heard daily announcements and participated in conversations focused on what it means to belong.

Belonging is the feeling of being accepted, valued, included, and connected to a group or community. We encouraged students to think about ways they can help others feel welcomed and included both in summer school and in their everyday lives.

We are proud of the many examples of kindness, teamwork, and friendship we have already seen from our students as they work to create a positive environment where everyone feels they belong.

This week, students participated in a wide variety of engaging classes including Sound Beginnings, Math Mathematicians, Space Explorers, Sports of All Sorts, Kitchen Science, Kindness Crew Academy, Power Up Reading, Eco-Art Makers, Art Gallery, LEGO STEM, Crochet, Sign Language, Speed and Strength, Concert Band, Fab Lab, Create with Canva, Board Game Strategy, and many more. It has been exciting to see students actively learning while having fun in a summer environment.

Throughout the week, our staff has been impressed by the positive attitudes, creativity, and enthusiasm displayed by our students. Thank you for your partnership and support in making this program such a success.
