Advanced Learners (TaG)

The Waterford Graded School District (WGSD) prides itself in its educational practice of providing appropriate educational opportunities for all students. This right to education is in keeping with one’s ability to reach his/her full potential. WGSD recognizes the uniqueness of each student. Therefore, the district is committed to providing students who exhibit high-level abilities in the following areas extension or enrichment programming: general intellectual ability, specific academic ability (Language Arts & Mathematics), creativity, visual/performance arts ability, and leadership.

The process for identifying high-achieving students should be ongoing and include qualitative and quantitative measures. Through specific types of identification criteria, WGSD can acknowledge the characteristics and needs of each individual student.

The district believes that for students to reach their highest potential in their identified areas of giftedness, programming must include differentiation within the classroom, an opportunity to work with like-learners, and the continued support and development of their talents.
