Act 20
Act 20 is a state law that requires schools to assess early literacy skills for students in grades 4K-3. This helps to ensure that all students receive the support they need to develop strong reading skills. Act 20 requires that schools have systems in place to screen all 5K - 3rd grade students three times per year using aimswebPlus, a nationally normed screening assessment approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Additionally, 4K students are screened twice a year. The information below is provided to inform parents, caregivers, and our community about WGSD’s plans to meet the needs of our learners and achieve the full potential of Act 20.
The Waterford Graded School District is taking a proactive approach to Act 20 and is committed to providing all learners with effective reading instruction based on evidence and responsive intervention.
