WGSD EdCamp for Teachers

On Friday, October 13, as part of our professional development learning, teachers participated in an EdCamp model of Learning.  According to the EdCamp Foundation, “Edcamp strives to bring teachers together to talk about the things that matter most to them: their interests, passions, and questions. Teachers who attend Edcamp can choose to lead sessions on those things that matter, with an expectation that the people in the room will work together to build understanding by sharing their own knowledge and questions.”

WGSD teachers came together at Woodfield and led and participated in more than 25 sessions on topics including math topics, reading topics, growth mindset, personalized learning, technology topics for the classroom, and many more.  The majority of staff found this model of professional learning to be very valuable and they were able to gain new ideas that they will take back to their classrooms.  Teachers liked having the ability to choose their learning and to learn from their peers in a more collaborative venue.  Many teachers found it to be very beneficial and hope to see this model used again in the future. Some of the comments included:

“Loved every session I was in and hope that we can continue these sessions!”
“I really liked this format for professional development and hope that we continue to use it in the future.”
“Great topics and organization”
“It was great. Food, friends, and facts”
“Just continue-awesome!”
